Are You Listening?

God speaks to us every day, but not always how we might expect. Ask God to make you aware of His presence in your daily life. Start looking for Him all around you as you go through your day. I often feel His presence when I’m driving and see the most beautiful sunset. Or when an unexpected rainbow shows up in the sky. Or when I am at the beach with the wind blowing on my face, just staring at the ocean and the vastness of it all. How can I not hear God in the waves crashing to the shore? I love looking up at the stars on a cold winter night and feeling His presence wrapped around me. I always thank Him when I see the beauty He has created for us. I feel His pleasure when I express my appreciation to Him. When you need Him the most, He will be reaching out to speak to you if you are listening!

When I need confirmation from Him that I am heading in the right direction or walking down a path that I think He wants me to go, He always comes through. Sometimes, He comes through in the funniest ways!

As I was beginning to take this journey of sharing my testimony with others, I was overwhelmed and scared. I kept asking God to confirm that this was His will. During this time, we ordered Chinese take-out. I was about to throw away the fortune cookies when God said, “That one’s for you!” I wondered if I had actually heard Him right, but I opened the cookie and read, “Big things coming in future, only a matter of time.” I laughed out loud and marveled that God has spoken to me through a fortune cookie!

God can and does use any means He sees fit to speak to us and get our attention. We just need to open our eyes and ears and be ready to hear what He has to say.
