You Make Me Brave

Fear comes in all shapes and sizes. Some people are afraid of the dark, others have a fear of the future. Fears can include fear of failure, fear of success, fear of loss, fear of what other people think about us, fear of being alone. The list is endless!

Because of my past abuse, I had many real fears. I feared my abuser and the control he had over me. I feared I would never find a way of escape, get married, or have a family of my own. My biggest fear is that I would never be able to heal from all the wounds that I carried from my past.

Even after I left home, fear was still a big part of my identity. Fear controlled my daily decisions and how I related to others. God helped me to overcome my fears and helped me to become brave and strong in Him. He showed me how to lean on Him and taught me that His love can cast out all fear. First John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

Fear comes from the enemy—not from God! The enemy wants to hold you back from the destiny God has planned for your life. Don’t allow fear to rule over you. Step out and God will strengthen each step you take. Claim the promise of Psalm 18:33, “He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights.” Press forward and find the healing that you need so that you can be a light to those around you.

Many of you who have read my book know how the ladies conferences at my church have always had an impact on my life and my healing. This year’s conference is called “She Is Brave.” If you live in the area, I want to invite you to the conference on September 10-12, 2015, at the Rock Family Worship Center in Huntsville, AL. You can register at http://sherevolution.com. I hope to see you there!
